Graduation Information & Schedule

Dear WHS Class of 2021 and Families,

There is tremendous excitement around the fact that we are able to hold a live, in-person graduation ceremony for the Class of 2021. To ensure that none of our graduates miss out due to COVID exposure in school and subsequent quarantine requirements, we have made the decision—with the support of Superintendent Seegmiller and the district—to move the last day of school for WHS seniors to Friday, May 14. Students may choose to continue to participate in school athletics and activities beyond this date.

Students need to be cautious on activities they choose to participate in after May 14. If an unvaccinated senior is exposed to a COVID-19 individual in any setting, including, but not limited to, school athletics, club athletics, social interactions (parties, etc), employment, etc. then they will need to quarantine based on guidelines. Anyone that needs to quarantine, or tests positive for COVID-19, starting on or after May 14, will not be eligible to attend the graduation ceremony on May 22. We will be shifting all Class of 2021 in-school celebratory activities to May 14.

We are excited to see your graduate walk across the stage on May 22!

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs. Scallon

Graduate Tips for Wearing Your Cap & Gown:

  • Cap - Should be worn so that the mortarboard is level, and not cocked to either side or placed on the back of the head.  The crown of the cap should come to approximately 1" above the eyebrows.  The deeper portion of the crown is the back.
  • Gown - Should be pressed and worn with dark shoes.  Women should not wear flowers, pins or other jewelry.  A simple straight dress without a high neckline gives the best results.  Men should wear a dress shirt and tie (optional) that will compliment the gown.  Coats may be left off for comfort.
  • Tassel - Should be worn on the right side before the diploma is conferred.  It is customary to change the tassel from the right to the left side after the diploma is conferred.  Your class officers will direct you when to do this during the ceremony.
