The Colorado Thespians named Julie Estrada the “High School Educator of the Year” at its September 18 awards ceremony.

The “High School Educator of the Year” award recognizes an individual who demonstrates a high level of professionalism, innovation, collaboration, and compassion in their teaching practices.

Estrada has been a theatre educator at Windsor High School since 2001. She has produced and directed nearly 50 productions during this time, coordinating all aspects of costuming, set design, lighting, sound, and prop management.

Under her tutelage, four of Estrada’s student productions earned Bobby G. High School Musical Theatre Award nominations, with “Bright Star” winning “Outstanding Achievement in Choreography” and “Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical” in 2026.

“Julie's profound impact on Windsor High School's theatre and performing arts program is a testament to the deep, sustainable foundation she has built over the last 25 years,” Assistant Principal and Activities Director Becca Larrick shared. “Throughout her time as a Wizard, her leadership and advocacy has culminated in extraordinary student growth and critical acclaim.”

Estrada earned her bachelor’s from the University of Northern Colorado and her master’s from Lesley University.
