Windsor High School Activities & Clubs

Chess Club

  • Time and Place: Fridays at lunch, Lower Collaboration space
  • Sponsor: Mr. Marino
  • Activities: Chess Club is open to all students and staff, regardless of skill level. Playing chess helps to develop many mental skills that are useful in life, such as logic, strategic and tactical thinking, planning and preparation, and problem-solving. Chess Club provides an opportunity to simply have fun playing the game and making friendships while building these skills at the same time.

Dart Club / Flight Club

  • Time and Place: TBD, Room B207
  • Sponsor: Mr. Collier and Mr. Boshart
  • Activities: Flight club is open to all students and staff, regardless of skill level. Our main focus will be learning the game of 501 and the strategies and skills needed to be successful, such as multiplication and subtraction. We plan to meet throughout each week either during lunch or before school @8:00 on specific days that have not been determined yet. Although there will be a competitive aspect to dart club, you can still come and throw leisurely.

Drama Club / Tech Club

  • Time and Place: Room D106
  • Sponsor: Mrs. Estrada
  • Activities: The Drama Club / Tech Club is for students with an interest in plays and play production, including acting, building, painting, lights and sound, and other aspects of production. The club will be involved with any production during the year. An appreciation of the dramatic arts will also be stressed with the possibility of attending professional productions in other cities. The International Thespian Society is an honor society of the Drama Club. ITS students are inducted in the spring.

Dungeons & Dragons Club

  • Time and Place: Mondays and Tuesdays at lunch, room B206

  • Activities: Dungeons and Dragons Club is a dynamic and engaging student organization that brings together young adventurers with a shared passion for role-playing games and imaginative storytelling. There is a creative and welcoming environment for students to immerse themselves in the fantastical realms of Dungeons and Dragons (D\&D). Members take on the roles of intrepid heroes, cunning rogues, wise wizards, and mighty warriors as they navigate intricate quests and challenges crafted by the student Dungeon Masters (DMs). Collaborative storytelling is at the heart of the experience, as students work together to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and make crucial decisions that shape the outcome of their epic journeys. It's a place where friendships are forged, adventures are undertaken, and limitless possibilities await around every corner of the dice-rolled world.

FCA - Fellowship of Christian Athletes

  • Time and Place: Tuesdays at lunch, Aux gym
  • Sponsor: Mrs. Bacon
  • Activities: The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching millions of lives…one heart at a time. Since 1954, FCA has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to unite, inspire and change the world through the gospel.

FFA - Future Farmers of America

  • Time and Place: After School, Ag Department
  • Sponsor: Mrs. Spaur
  • Activities: The National FFA Organization is a youth leadership organization that reflects the broadening field of agriculture, which today encompasses more than 300 careers, such as vet science, ag mechanics, food science, floriculture, greenhouse production, biotechnology, and more. Students must be enrolled in an agriculture class to participate in FFA activities, which include social events, community service, competition, as well as many travel and scholarship opportunities.

FBLA - Future Business Leaders of America

  • Time and Place: Room C203
  • Sponsor: Mr. Brockway
  • Activities: This organization means business! All are welcome to join FBLA, and students pursuing the business curriculum are enthusiastically encouraged to attend. Through service, leadership, social, and instructional activities, students develop professional business outlooks and awareness. Compete against other students in business and technology events.

FCCLA - Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America

  • Time and Place: Tuesdays at lunch, Room B225
  • Sponsor: Ms. Mullis, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Teal
  • Activities: Family Career and Community Leaders of America is a Career and Technical Student Organization within Family and Consumer Sciences that provides dynamic leadership opportunities at the local, district, state, and national levels for students to develop their leadership skills, professional presentation skills through competitive STAR events, develop their passions, prepare for future careers, and strengthen their social networks. WHS FCCLA launches a Butter Braids fundraiser each year to support leadership development activities for students and their attendance at the state leadership conference in Denver, Colorado each year. This year FCCLA is looking to explore having the fundraiser both in the fall and spring.

German Club

  • Time and Place: Tuesdays at lunch, Room B118
  • Sponsor: Ms. Schulz and Ms. Ward
  • Activities: Every other year, Windsor High School hosts students from Kitzingen, Germany. The purpose of the German club is to prepare interested students to host our exchange partners from Armin-Knab-Gymnasium (AKG). To be a member of the German Club, students must commit to hosting a student. The club meetings provide cultural enrichment through a variety of activities and projects related to the German language and culture. All students are welcome to join the club.  To remain eligible for the club, a student must regularly attend meetings.

GSA

  • Time and Place: Wednesdays at Lunch (may change due to students preference)
  • Sponsor: Ms. Plowman
  • Activities: The GSA is a student-initiated club focused on awareness and understanding of diversity and sexual orientation.

Interact

  • Time and Place: Every other Wednesday, Main Gym
  • Sponsor: Mrs. Foxx
  • Activities: Interact Club is a student initiated community service organization focused on local and international issues. The club organizes multiple projects every year, at least one that helps our school, one that helps our community, and one that promotes international understanding. Windsor Rotary Club members mentor and guide Interactors as we carry out projects and develop leadership skills.

Key Club

  • Time and Place: Thursdays, Room B103
  • Sponsor: Ms. Duvall
  • Activities: Key Club is a community service organization focused on local and regional issues. Members participate in a variety of service and fundraising activities to support the local community. Key Club is the student chapter of Kiwanis International.

Link Crew

  • Time and Place: PRN at lunch, Room B225
  • Sponsor: Mrs. Smith and Ms. Teal
  • Activities: Link Crew is a nationwide program designed to welcome and support 9th graders by connecting them with Link Leaders, who are positive, responsible, hand-selected 11th and 12th graders. Your student’s Link Leaders will help them feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of high school. Doesn’t that sound great? It is! Students who are interested will complete an application. See Ms. Teal or Mrs. Smith to apply in the Spring to pick up an application.

Literature Club

  • Time and Place: After school once or twice per month, Room B102
  • Sponsor: Ms. Hausmann
  • Activities: We will read and discuss literature.

Knowledge Bowl

  • Time and Place: Tuesdays and Wednesdays at lunch, Room B217, from September to April
  • Sponsor: Mr. Thompson
  • Activities: Knowledge Bowl is an interactive team competition where members showcase their academic acumen against other schools in Colorado. Participating in teams of four, Knowledge Bowl members answer a slew of questions ranging across the broad spectrum of school subjects, current events, and other challenging topics. Any student is eligible to join the WHS Knowledge Bowl team. Competition begins in November and concludes with the Mega Mind League competition in February. The state qualifying and state meets are held in the spring.  Students can earn a WHS letter in this activity.

Newspaper

  • Time and Place: varies per semester; Newspaper is a credited class
  • Sponsor: Ms. Johnson
  • Activities: In this student publications coarse, students will build on the skills attained in Introduction to Journalism as they continue to explore the craft of reporting and the professionalism while contributing to the school's online newspaper. Skills students will enhance are interviewing, reporting, editing, design and presentation, advertising, and digital photography. Students be able to apply for leadership opportunities within the classroom and will have choice in the articles and topics they pursue. The one-semester "Introduction to Journalism" class is required as a pre requisite.

NHS - National Honor Society

  • Time and Place: TBD
  • Sponsor: Ms. Hiebenthal
  • Activities: The NHS includes members of the junior and senior classes.  Faculty votes to accept new members of the WHS Chapter after the end of first semester. Students must have a GPA of 3.5 or above, and are judged on the basis of leadership, character, and service. For more information, please view this slideshow.

Mock Trial

  • Time and Place: Room B213
  • Sponsor: Mr. Stapleton
  • Activities: This fun and interactive club will prepare students to participate in the statewide mock trial competition conducted annually by the Colorado Bar Association. Students will explore various topics relating to the functions of the court system. In preparation for the competition, the students will use critical thinking skills to analyze physical evidence and witness affidavits. They will work collaboratively as a team to construct sound legal arguments supporting and attacking both sides of the given case. The students will write opening and closing statements, as well direct and cross examination questions. Students will participate in the competition as either witnesses or attorneys. Through the preparation and trials, students will become familiar with trial procedure, rules of evidence and courtroom decorum. Students who take part in this club will have skills, such as teamwork and collaboration, public speaking and critical thinking skills.

Robotics Team

  • Time and Place: WHS Mechatronics lab (C103) or Computer lab (C206)
  • Sponsor: Jason & Michelle Gentry
  • Activities: The WHS Robotics program began in 2011 and has consistently competed at a high level. Teams meet after school beginning in early September to prepare for competitions beginning in January. We have a long history of excellence in robotics competitions. Team members join with the understanding that significant time and dedication are needed to solve the engineering problem presented to them. In return, those team members will develop skills which will serve them in postsecondary engineering and computer science programs as well as earn admission to college and scholarships based on that work. Just like any other competitive team, Robotics team members are required to meet high expectations of dedication and responsibility to remain eligible for participation.

SkillsUSA

  • Time and Place: Room C106
  • Sponsor: Mr. Hilim
  • Activities: SkillsUSA is a national organization and partnership of students, teachers, and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Students must be enrolled in a welding class in order to participate. Some of the student generated activities are social events, community service, and fundraisers. There is also a regional skill welding competition with the possibility of competing at the state and national level.

Spanish Club

  • Time and Place: Third Friday of the month at 8:15 a.m.
  • Sponsor: Mrs. Cumings, Ms. Gardner, Ms. Kendrot
  • Activities: The purpose of Spanish Club is to provide cultural enrichment through a variety of activities, projects, and travel related to the Spanish language. Any student who has studied or is studying Spanish is welcome to join the club.

Student Council

  • Time and Place: Wednesdays at 8am, Room A213
  • Sponsor: Mr. Thompson
  • Activities: Student Council is the student government of WHS. They are in charge of many activities throughout the school year, including homecoming, school improvements, dances, and important issues involving the administration. The group has lots of fun and would like to invite you to join.

TSA - Technology Student Association

  • Time and Place: Second and fourth Wednesdays at lunch, Room C206
  • Sponsor: Mr. Slade
  • Activities: Time to get your STEM on! The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national career and technical student organization (CTSO) of high school students who are engaged in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Competitive events range from Animatronics to Webmaster and leadership opportunities will help you develop 21st century skills.

Weightlifting Club

  • Time and Place: Mondays at lunch, Weightlifting room
  • Sponsor: Mrs. Foxx
  • Activities: We discuss powerlifting programming, technicality, cues, competitions, nutrition, and anything else powerlifting related.

Wizartz Art Club

  • Time and Place: Tuesdays & Wednesdays at lunch, Room B127
  • Sponsor: Mrs. Alonso and Mrs. Cassity 
  • Activities: The Wizartz Art Club consists of students who love the arts and cannot seem to get enough of them throughout the school day. Our club meets after school on a regular basis to hold meetings (TBD) and occasionally during lunch (TBD). Our goal is to promote the arts in various ways such as painting murals, school and community installations, and arts advocacy. In addition, our club members have access to open studio nights where we enjoy each others' fellowship and hone our artistic skills.

WWBN - The Windsor Wizards Broadcast Network

  • Time and Place: Mondays after school, Room C204
  • Sponsor: Mr. Vasa
  • Activities: WWBN is a student-run live broadcast of sporting events and other activities from Windsor High School. Students will learn to run the entire broadcast; cameras, director, graphics, and announcers are all included.

Yearbook

  • Time and Place: varies per semester; Yearbook is a credited class
  • Sponsor: Mrs. Johnson
  • Activities: Yearbook is a production-based class where you get to see your hard work in the hands of every student at the end of the year. Students plan layouts, write stories, and take photographs that document the student experience. In this class, you'll make friends, go to lots of events, and see your vision come to life. The one-semester "Introduction to Journalism" class is required as a prerequisite.
