Winter Guard

Teacher contact: Jessica Cialone

Description: WHS's Winter Guard is an off-season performing arts opportunity closely linked to the marching band color guard. Winter guard is basically the color guard without the band! Each season the winter guard rehearses from November through March with an end goal to perform a 4-5 minute routine to a theatrical song. We have hopes of competing at multiple shows throughout CO in the Scholastic Regional A Class division via the Rocky Mountain Color Guard Association (RMCGA) and Winter Guard International (WGI). Competitions begin late January and early February. Winter guard utilizes the use of movement and dance in addition to spinning: flags, wooden rifles, plastic air blades and/or metal sabres. It is highly encouraged to participate in the marching band color guard prior to the winter season to better prepare its performers.
